A great clays vest can make the difference between winning and losing when it counts. When we set out to create the perfect clays vest we spoke with a group of accomplished clays shooters to understand what they needed when they stepped into their “office”. We learned the following–they wanted easy-access shell pockets with an easy way to dump empties, a smooth yet grippy pad for the stock of their gun to find purchase on every shot with confidence, use of lightweight and breathable fabrics for warm days, a place to hold a towel and ear protection when not in use, and a way to clip on their competition numbers without looking dorky.
We brought all of these insights into the design studio when we began creating the perfect clays vest. The masterpiece we ended up with satisfies all the requirements outlined by the pros, while at the same time using traditional materials that allow you to shoot in style. We combined Made-in-UK waxed cotton with an ultra-breathable spacer mesh that will develop a beautiful patina but wear comfortably across the temperature spectrum. The easy-access front shell pockets utilize snap closures and empty shells can be dumped through the integrated YKK® zippers in the bottom of the shell pockets. On either side of the vest is a towel ring and snap loop for ear protection and a towel. On the back are stealth bib clips that provide for a discrete way to affix a number bib but can be easily removed when not in use. Inside the front pockets is an attachment point for our VersaPatch® Shell holder system which also works great to hold chokes when not in use.
